Trainee Nursing Associate

Emily

Emily completed a Level 2 Diploma in Healthcare Support within the Ward 308, Vascular.

Emily, who did the course through Derby College, said: “I chose an apprenticeship because it provided me with on-the-job training. It meant I was able to earn while I was learning and gain a qualification. It’s brilliant as it gives you the opportunity to gain practical experience as well as studying the theory side. That wouldn’t have happened if I’d just studied the qualification at college. The fact I have practical experience will look great on my CV when looking for other roles in healthcare”

“Doing my apprenticeship has benefited me massively. Since completing my Level 2 diploma, I’ve gone on to start my training as a Nursing Associate; I wouldn’t have been able to do this without the qualification I gained from my apprenticeship.”

“My average day is very busy, which is great because it keeps me on my feet. Working in this kind of environment teaches you how to work under pressure and how to prioritise different jobs.”

“When I left school, I wasn’t 100% sure of what I wanted to do. Doing this apprenticeship has made me realise that I definitely want to pursue a career in healthcare.”

“I’d recommend doing an apprenticeship to anybody, as it is a great way to earn while you study. It helps you to gain valuable experience and new skills.”
