I became a sister in October, after spending eight years working as a staff nurse, and working as an HCA before that. I’ve worked on Ward 205 and 206 during my time here.
I knew I wanted to go into nursing quite early on. I looked after my dad from a young age, and that experience showed me what I wanted to do.
I love the patient contact in T&O. There’s something very special about seeing the patient journey and the changes from when they come in to when they go home.
This is a great ward to be based on. Staff work together and we have a real team approach. Everyone works together to get everything done. After all, we’re all here for the patients, at the end of the day.
My role is to manage rotas, staff and beds, organise the off-duty rota and make sure our staff have the support they need. It’s very hands on. The only way to get a taste for how we work here is to come and visit. I love it, and I think others will too.
